About The Expert
Dr. Amy K. Bach is a licensed clinical psychologist and has served as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, RI, since 2006. She co-teaches a course on cognitive behavioral therapy for psychiatry residents in the Alpert Medical School and conducts guest lectures on her areas of expertise for other courses within the Alpert Medical School.
Dr. Bach completed her undergraduate studies in psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. She received a master's of arts degree in clinical psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York, and a doctorate in clinical psychology from Boston University, where she trained at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders.She completed a pre-doctoral internship in the Brown University Clinical Psychology Training Consortium.
Dr. Bach opened a private practice in 2004 and has experience working with clients on a broad range of issues. She specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders and sexual dysfunction. She works collaboratively with clients to achieve their goals and she uses cognitive behavioral therapy to:
- teach clients skills and strategies that help to reduce negative symptoms or behaviors
- change negative patterns in thinking
- increase clients' understanding of their emotional patterns
- develop and/or strengthen positive coping strategies
- empower clients and increase their sense of self-efficacy and self-reliance
- improve quality of life
