Dr. Komarnicky, a prominent specialist in the treatment of breast and gynecological cancers, is professor and chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology and director of Drexel University College of Medicine’s Cancer Program. Before joining Drexel University College of Medicine, Dr. Komarnicky was associate professor of radiation oncology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and director of the hospital’s residency program. She also served as clinical service chief at Hahnemann University Hospital for five years.
Dr. Komarnicky received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her medical degree from Medical College of Pennsylvania (now Drexel University College of Medicine). Long active in developing breast cancer awareness programs throughout the Philadelphia region, Dr. Komarnicky has served as a spokesperson for the Linda Creed Breast Cancer Foundation and on various committees of the American Cancer Society.
She has written numerous articles on cancer in peer review journals and a patient education book with Dr. Anne L. Rosenberg, titled What to Do If You Get Breast Cancer. She is a member of the board of directors of the Breast Health Institute and has been recognized repeatedly as a “Top Doc” by Philadelphia magazine.
