Dr. Patricia Raymond takes medicine seriously and herself lightly. Well respected by her patients and colleagues, Dr. Raymond has a special prescription for her fellow medical caregivers— heal medicine itself before the stress and pressure of the profession bring our lives crashing down.
Board certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology, Dr. Raymond earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1986. She served her internship and residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, and completed her gastroenterology fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia.
Entering private practice in Virginia in 1992, she now practices group patient-centered gastroenterology, and is a Fellow of both the American College of Gastroenterology and the American College of Physicians.
The author of Don't Jettison Medicine, Colonoscopy: It'll Crack u Up!, and Colonoscopy Is a Gas!, numerous medical papers, and editorials, Dr. Raymond hosted House Calls, a popular regional NPR medical talk show, and has served as spokesman for several pharmaceuticals. Raymond writes regular columns in My Family Doctor, SIGNEA, and Endonurse magazines.
She speaks nationally to health care professionals about rekindling our passion for our health care careers (). She also presents colon cancer awareness programs as the singing sensation, the divine Ms. Butt Meddler ().
